About the Creative Mindfulness for Kids Method

Creative Mindfulness for Children Method

Creative Mindfulness for Kids is a unique teaching method developed by Louise Shanagher (Psychology lecturer, Children’s therapist, Mindfulness teacher and author) that specialises in fostering mental well-being and emotional resilience in children.

In our courses, we follow the Mindful Heart Curriculum which is the first mindfulness-based curriculum for primary schools in Ireland. It has been developed by Louise Shanagher and Paul McNamee (BA in psychological studies and higher diploma in Psychology, education, and curriculum design in mindfulness courses and SPHE for primary school teachers) and designed and illustrated by Thomas Masselis.

The curriculum introduces evidence-based mindfulness and self-compassion practices to children using fun, creative, and child-friendly methods. The curriculum also focuses on supporting teachers to develop their own mindfulness and self-compassion practices. The Mindful Heart Curriculum is a perfect support for schools that wish to promote positive mental health and well-being for both students and teachers alike and is aligned with the Irish Primary schools SPHE curriculum.

"Everyone talks about peace but no one educates for peace. In this world, they educate for competition, and competition is the beginning of any war. When educating to cooperate and owe each other solidarity, that day we will be educating for peace.”
